D4. Short double rows composed of 10 or more small and/or medium sized stones

Torrish Burn is the best preserved example of this type of stone row.

Distribution of short double rows composed of 10 or more small and/or medium sized stones.

There are only three examples of this type of stone row and they are situated a long way apart. Indeed with one in each country this is probably the most dispersed distribution of all and provides conclusive evidence that regional variations, whilst relatively rare do exist. Some types of row have a more widespread distribution than others and are found in areas where another type is dominant.  It is perhaps also significant that all three rows have a cairn at their upper end.
