Stone pair at Whiteleen, overlooking the Loch of Yarrows, Caithness
A large number of standing stones survive as pairs. Some of these pairs may have originally been rows, but over the years some of the original stones may have been removed or buried. It is not currently intended to systematically investigate every stone pair. Where re-interpretation of sites previously considered to be rows suggests that they should more appropriately be considered as stone pairs details will be available. In addition some stone pairs in the vicinity of rows may be added.
Currently available Gazetteer entries for stone pairs include:
- Achnagoul, Caithness
- Carse, Argyll and Bute
- Cefn Car, Brecon Beacons
- Dalchirla, Perth and Kinross
- Loch Watenan, Caithness
