Tryfel Stones

View from above and south (Scale 1m).

A double stone row measuring 10m long, including 16 mainly small and some medium-sized stones situated on a gentle south facing slope.  The row is orientated north to south and leads downslope from a cairn at the northern end. There are several cairns in the vicinity.

Individual Stones

Stone 1 (on the left) measures 0.36m long by 0.26m wide, stands up to 0.50m high and is orientated at 74°. Stone 2 (on the right) measures 0.36m long by 0.24m wide, stands up to 0.28m high and is orientated at 85°. View from south (Scale 1m).

Stone 3 measures 0.47m long by 0.20m wide, is orientated at 140° and is hidden by turf.

Stone 4 is hidden by turf and its dimensions could not be established.

Stone 5 measures 0.32m long by 0.15m wide, barely protrudes through the turf and is orientated at 55°. View from south (Scale 1m).

Stone 6 (hidden by rushes next to the ranging rod) measures 0.30m long by 0.22m wide, barely protrudes through the turf and is orientated at 70°. Stone 8 (on the left) measures 0.46m long by 0.35m wide, stands up to 0.12m high and is orientated at 92°. View from east (Scale 1m).

Stone 7 measures 0.37m long by 0.31m wide, stands up to 0.37m high and is orientated at 74°. Stone 2 (on the right) measures 0.36m long by 0.24m wide, stands up to 0.28m high and is orientated at 95°. View from north east (Scale 1m).

Stone 9 is hidden by turf and its dimensions could not be established.

Stone 10 measures 0.48m long by 0.28m wide, stands up to 0.23m high and is orientated at 60°. Stones 7 and 8 are visible beyond.  View from south (Scale 1m).

Stone 11 is hidden by turf and its dimensions could not be established.

Limited car parking is available at SH 97368 14395. From here follow the track northward. Permission should be sought at Lle’r-Tai.
