Rhos y Gelynen

View from east (Scale 1m).

A single stone row measuring 9.1m long, including 6 medium and large-sized stones situated on a gentle east facing slope overlooking the Elan Valley. Three stones remain standing and the others including the largest at the eastern end are recumbent. The row is orientated east to west and stands in an area with broadly contemporary standing stones and cairns.

Stone 1 (on the left) measures 0.43m long by 0.17m wide and stands 0.57m high. Stone 3 (on the right) measures 0.73m long by 0.17m wide and stands 0.63m high. View from south (Scale 1m). Stone was not visible at the time of the visit in 2018 but was earlier as shown below.

Stone 4 measures 1.41m long by 0.56m wide and stands up to 0.4m above the ground surface. Stone 5 stands behind. View from west (Scale 1m).

Stone 5 (on the right) measures 0.66m long by 0.40m wide and stands 1.49m high. Stone 4 lies to the left of the ranging rod.  View from south (Scale 1m).

Access Information

Car parking is available at SN 90917 63892. From here head south along the road to SN 90986 63787. Take the footpath on the right leading up the hill and follow this to SN 89877 63570 beside the communications mast. Head south along the track to the row.
