Carragh a’Ghlinne

View from north east (Scale 1m).

A single stone row measuring 5.4m long, including four large orthostats, but only the south western one is upright (2.3m high). The row is orientated north east to south west and is situated at the foot of a south east facing hillslope and has restricted sea views. A hollow on the south east face maybe a cup-mark.

Identification

Category: Plausible. This is clearly an example of a short stone row composed of at least four closely spaced large slabs. Rows of this form are common in Argyll and Isles.

Access Information

Parking is available at NR 52170 66255. Be careful not to obstruct any other vehicles.  From here walk west along the track. In the summer access to the stones is only available through high bracken.  At the time of the site visit the area around the stones which is clear of high vegetation had significant numbers of ticks. Please check your clothing regularly.
