Featured Site – Badgworthy Lees

Sometimes visiting a row can be a disappointment. The Exmoor Historic environment Record notes a possible stone row at Badgworthy Lees. The record notes that: “During a site visit in July 2012, a group of stones were noted in an area with no other obvious surface stone. It was tentatively suggested to be a prehistoric stone row.”
This site is recorded as being at SS 7871 4455, but there are no stones at this position. Nearby there are some stones associated with an historic field boundary and it maybe these that were identified as a possible stone row. If the site was at the grid reference given it has been removed and if at the alternative position it most likely represents rocks exposed during the construction of the field boundary.
